Requirements to obtain a license:

• Be of legal age, although for the use of hunting shotguns, special authorizations exist for children under 14 years of age to use them, but they must always be supervised by a parent or guardian.
• Pass a series of tests established by the administration, both theoretical and practical.
• Have a certificate attesting to the psychological and technical condition of the person seeking to possess them (we provide this).
• In the case of handguns and rifles, these must be stored in security cabinets with specific specifications for this purpose.

Type D weapons licenses will be granted by the Head of the Civil Guard Command of the applicant’s province of residence and are valid for five years.

To maintain the validity of type D licenses, people over 67 years of age will need to have them endorsed (confirm their validity after checking) every three years by the competent authority, upon prior provision by the interested party of a favorable report, issued by an authorized recognition center, or, where appropriate, upon passing the corresponding complementary aptitude tests.
